HOA Industry. With an extensive background in the community association industry, Adrian Adams is one of the leading attorneys in California specializing in common interest developments. His practice includes highrise condominiums, stock cooperatives, business parks, lake associations, golfing communities, equestrian associations, and ocean-front communities. Although serving primarily as corporate counsel to boards of directors, Adrian has litigated a wide range of issues through the courts, including the Court of Appeals. After making partner in another law firm, Adrian founded “Adams Kessler PLC” and quickly grew his firm into a preeminent boutique firm specializing in corporate representation of common interest developments from resorts to retirement communities to mixed-use communities to property owner associations and everything in between. 

Teaching and Professional. At the request of UCLA, Adrian Adams created and taught one of their highest rated Extension courses for ten years, a popular course on “Association Management and Law.” In addition to teaching, Adrian has been a panelist in many continuing education programs for other attorneys, has been a guest speaker for the California State Bar, and regularly speaks at industry-related events throughout California. Adrian Adams is a legal adviser on condominium law and smoke-free housing issues to the Technical Assistance Legal Center, a project of the Public Health Institute. Mr. Adams is also on the Board of Directors of the CIDLAW Organization and previously served on the Boards of Directors of the Los Angeles and Orange County chapters of the Community Associations Institute.  

Expert Witness & Publications. Adrian serves as an expert witness on standards of care issues involving association boards and managers and has testified extensively on issues involving maintenance, mold, rules enforcement, budgets, reserves, governing documents, management, operations and the like. In a related matter, Mr. Adams conducts and publishes a bi-annual salary survey of onsite managers throughout California which tracks trends related to income, gender, education, average age, and certification of managers. In addition, Adrian writes and publishes a popular weekly newsletter and blog with analysis and commentary on legal trends in the industry.

Education. Following a four-year stint in the U.S. Marine Corps, where he specialized in aviation electronics for F-4 Phantom fighter jets, Adrian earned a Bachelor of Arts with Great Distinction in Psychology with minors in Chemistry and Biology. He was a four-time University Scholar and a member of the Phi Eta Sigma Academic Society, Psi Chi Academic Society, and the Phi Delta Phi Academic Society. Adrian went on to earn a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA). Following the MBA program, Adrian earned a Juris Doctorate from Southwestern Law School.
