Residential property purchased at a foreclosure sale or acquired through foreclosure must be properly maintained. Owners who allow foreclosed property to languish can be fined up to $1,000 per day by local municipal authorities. Civil Code §2929.3.

In addition to any fines levied by the city, associations can adopt their own rules and levy fines against owners of unmaintained properties.
