Suspending Voting Rights
Delinquent Owners. In California homeowners and condominium associations, suspension of a delinquent owner's voting rights (members not in good standing) may be automatic if provided for in the governing documents. According to one court decision, suspension may be done without a hearing. Kurz v. Federation of Petanque U.S.A.

Notice of Suspension. Notice of the suspension and the deadline for payment should be given to delinquent owners so they have an opportunity to bring their accounts current and regain their right to vote.

Hearings. Even though governing documents may allow for automatic suspension of voting rights, associations should make it a practice to hold hearings.
