Mixed Use Developments
Mixed-Use Developments (MUDs) contain both residential and commercial elements. They are frequently found in downtown districts and consist of retail condominiums on the street level with residential condominiums over the shops.

MUDs have been effective in revitalizing stagnant or dying business districts. However, residential and commercial sides of the developments have conflicting interests that often lead to problems. Disputes frequently involve the following:
  • nuisance noise and odors from businesses

  • traffic and parking problems

  • security issues

  • allocation of costs
