If a director wishes to resign as an officer but continue as a director, a written communication similar to the following may be used:

Please accept my resignation as President [or Secretary or Treasurer, etc.] of the Board. I will continue to serve as a director.
My resignation shall take effect <immediately> or <date and time> or <upon the appointment of a successor officer>.
