ARTIFICIAL GRASS

Many owners are considering synthetic grass for water conservation and to reduce maintenance. Artificial turf is a man-made surface manufactured from synthetic materials, made to look like natural grass.

Some water districts are offering rebates to encourage their installation. However, some cities have banned artificial lawns. Associations need to check local ordinances before authorizing artificial grass.

If associations authorize artificial lawns, they will need to develop architectural guidelines on the type of artificial grass they will allow, since there are many different types. They will also need to develop guidelines for the installation and maintenance of artificial lawns.
