    Re:  Unapproved Alterations

Dear <Owner's name>:

It has come to our attention that you are making alterations to your  <condominium, townhouse, lot>  without approval by the Association. Please immediately cease all work until plans have been submitted to and approved by the  <Board of Directors, Architectural Committee> .

Failure to cease work could result in the imposition of fines and the filing of a lawsuit seeking a restraining order. If that were to happen the Association could be entitled to its attorneys' fees and costs as provided for in the CC&Rs as well as by statute. The Association has no interest in imposing fines or filing suit and would prefer to resolve this amicably. Accordingly, please cease all work and immediately submit plans to  <Board, Architectural Committee, Management> .

Very truly yours,
