  BRIAN P. HEBERT

Brian Hebert is the Executive Secretary of the California Law Revision Commission (CLRC). He received both his law degree and undergraduate degree from the University of California at Berkeley and is a member of the order of the Coif.

LAW REVISION COMMISSION
Created in 1953, the Law Revision Commission is a non-partisan state entity that studies state laws in order to discover defects and anachronisms and make detailed proposals for statutory reforms. It is the body the state Legislature turns to for in-depth, neutral analysis of complex legal problems. More than 90 percent of the CLRC’s recommendations have been enacted into law, affecting nearly 25,000 code sections.

CLRC recommendations have addressed a wide variety of subjects and can range in size from a single code section to the creation or recodification of entire codes of law (including the Evidence Code, Family Code, and Probate Code). The CLRC’s current work includes a comprehensive overhaul of California law on government surveillance of electronic communications and the complete recodification of the Fish and Game Code. The CLRC consists of 10 Commissioners and six staff.
