Adrian, Nathan, and Laurie discussed working with specialty or unique types of HOAs.
10-25. Partner Nathan McGuire sat down with ADAMS|STIRLING attorneys to discuss bills newly signed into law. Senior Attorney Jamie Handrick examined SB 391, which codifies permission for video meetings during some types of emergencies, and highlights some ways AB 1101 strengthens fraud prevention protection and clarifies terminology from its predecessor, AB 2912. Attorney Alison Greiner outlined how AB 468 clarifies for HOAs some issues surrounding emotional support animals. Senior Attorney Reggie Schubert explained what associations need to do to comply with AB 611, and discusses SB 9's applicability to common-interest developments. Attorney Alex Sohal looked at how SB 432 does (and does not) remedy problems for Director Elections introduced by SB 323, and provides a synopsis of AB 502's requirements for election by acclamation. Alex rounds things out by summarizing how AB 1466 provides for modifying otherwise illegal restrictive covenants, as well as how SB 607 modifies 2020's SB 326. 10-6. CAI-CLAC held its Annual Planning Meeting to discuss 2022 legislative priorities. At this meeting, it also presented Partner Nathan McGuire with the distinction of Emeritus Delegate. The webinar will cover, among other topics, What Exactly Is SB 326 and what Elements Need to Be Inspected, Responsibilities of the Property Manager and the Association, and SB 326 and the Law.
10-15. Attorney Alex Sohal presented Nuisances and Annoyances - When and How to Address Them to this year's virtual CAI Legal Forum, California Communities. Alex helped homeowner leaders and managers understand when an association is required to get involved in board-homeowner conflicts, and provide strategies needed to resolve issues before they escalate.
